Francoise Nielly:
My first impressions on this piece of work is that its abstract with funky colours. It shows shadows where darker colours are, and light where lighter colours are. However, in my opinion its too colorful. I prefer just a few colours, or just dark colours.
The piece of work looks rough textured, because you can see the brush strokes, and the rough colour blocks. Its different to many artists who smooth out their brush strokes, and who blend their colours. I like the abstract effect it gives.
I think that each colour from different parts pf the face could show different emotions. Emotions hidden and not shown. It might be that the artist felt in a certain emotion or mood. So, they painted this painting to represent it, or to let it out. As i mentioned before, each colour could represent a different emotion. So, pink could represent love, but yellow could represent hate at the same time.
This piece of work makes me a bit confused, because the colours represent different meanings. Even so, opposite meaning colours are still there. for example, pink means love but yellow means hate. It makes the work very meaningful.
